You always add whimsy wherever you go, Sophie. I shared this idea with my family and I think we will try the Chronicles of Narnia with our kids first. What age would be best? Any age? Just begin? We are reading The Trumpet of the Swan by EB White with Doc now. Also, I feel deeply understood as you described what it’s like to be confused then have everything click into place when reading a classic. Thank you!

Aaaw yay! I love that this has inspired you to try reading more as a family. I was probably around eight years old when I remember longer books being read. Earlier on it was more just shorter children’s books. If you find your littles are too young to enjoy Narnia, I suggest ones that are fun for both littles and adults. Some of my faves that I still love now are the Frog and Toad books by Arnold Lobel, Beatrix Potter books, Winnie the Pooh, and Stephen Kellog’s books. There’s a reason so many of them have stood the test of time. Also, a longer book that I still love and I think fairly young kids would too is “The Wind in the Willows,” another classic that I find utterly charming. Thanks for reading, Tara! Hope you and the family have fun reading together ❤️

I still love being read to! I’m so thankful that I grew up in a house where books and reading were a big thing <3

I love those memories. Some of my favorite memories are being read to by my mom. I read well on my own, but I loved that. The laughing and reading with friends is fond memories too.
